JALは、小正嘉之助蒸溜所株式会社（鹿児島県日置市、代表取締役社長：小正芳嗣、以下「嘉之助蒸溜所」）の「THE STORY OF KANOSUKE」JAL Limited Editionを、JAL国際線機内販売「事前予約サービス」、ならびにJALマイレージバンク(JMB)日本地区会員を対象とした抽選販売にて、限定488セットを販売します。

1. JALとジャパニーズクラフトウイスキー

近年、世界中で「ジャパニーズウイスキー」の愛好家が増えており、2020年には輸出量が酒類第1位となりました。なかでも人気を後押ししているのが、日本各地の小規模蒸溜所の「クラフトウイスキー」という存在です。JALは日本の各地に点在する小規模蒸溜所でつくられる「ジャパニーズクラフトウイスキー」を販売し、その体験をきっかけに日本の各地に足を運んでいただくきっかけとしていただくことで、移動を通じた関係・つながりを創造します。

2. 嘉之助蒸溜所

1883年に創業し、鹿児島の地で焼酎づくりを続けてきた小正醸造は、日本初の樽熟成焼酎「メローコヅル」を生み出し、焼酎での世界進出を目指しました。その意思を引き継ぎ、嘉之助氏の孫である四代目の小正芳嗣氏が「60年以上積み重ねてきた本格焼酎の樽熟成の技術で、同じ蒸留酒であるウイスキーで世界中の人々を魅了したい」と思い立ち、2017年に鹿児島県日置市の吹上浜沿いに嘉之助蒸溜所をオープンしました。長い歴史を誇る鹿児島の本格焼酎の技術を基に、発酵や蒸溜・熟成やブレンドなどのノウハウを応用し、眼前に広がる東シナ海と吹上浜の雄大な風景を望みながら、精魂込めてメローなウイスキーが造られています。

JALは嘉之助蒸留所の成り立ちと、独自のウイスキー造りに込められた情熱に共感し、鹿児島と世界を繋げる橋渡しの思いを込めて、このたび二代目嘉之助氏が世界へ挑戦した米焼酎「メローコヅルエクセレンス」と、四代目芳嗣氏が満を持して世界に送り出す5年熟成「シングルモルト嘉之助THE STORY OF KANOSUKE」(*)の2本とテイスティンググラスのセットを「THE STORY OF KANOSUKE」JAL Limited Edition として販売する運びとなりました。

（＊）「メローコヅル」を貯蔵していたアメリカンホワイトオークのリチャー樽で5年以上熟成させ、一つの樽からそのまま瓶詰した「嘉之助ウイスキー」の特徴を凝縮した唯一無二の希少なウイスキーです。

JAL and Japanese craft whiskey

2. kanosuke distillery

Founded in 1883, Komasa Jozo has continued to make shochu in Kagoshima, Japan. The company created Japan's first barrel-aged shochu, Merokozuru, and set out to make its first foray into the world of shochu. Inheriting this intention, Yoshitsugu Komasa, the fourth generation, grandson of Kanosuke, decided that he wanted to use the authentic shochu barrel-aging techniques accumulated over 60 years to attract people around the world with whiskey, the same spirit, and opened the Kanosuke Distillery along Fukiage Beach in Hioki, Kagoshima Prefecture in 2017. The distillery is located alongside Fukiage Beach in Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is the home of the Kanosuke Distillery, a distillery that produces a mellow whiskey with a view of the East China Sea and the magnificent scenery of the Fukiage Beach.

JAL shares the same passion for the origins of the Kanosuke Distillery and its unique whiskey production, and with the desire to bridge the gap between Kagoshima and the world, JAL is proud to introduce Mellow Codzuru Excellence, the rice shochu that Mr. Kanosuke II challenged to the world, and Single Malt, a 5-year old whiskey that Mr. Yoshitsugu IV is now ready to introduce to the world. The set includes two bottles of Kanosuke THE STORY OF KANOSUKE(*) and a tasting glass as "THE STORY OF KANOSUKE" JAL Limited Edition.

(*) Aged for more than five years in American white oak litchi casks in which "Mellow Cranes" was stored, and bottled directly from a single cask, this is the one and only rare whiskey that concentrates the characteristics of "Kanosuke Whiskey".
